It’s possible to bypass the Origin purchase error issue and this is how!
So this is not usually the sort of content I post on the blog, but I make the rules, right?! This is something I’ve been annoyed by for the LONGEST time and I found a fix, so I thought I’d share it with you all.
If, like me, you haven’t been able to purchase on Origin for quite some time (good old EA), then hopefully the fix I found works for you!
(I mainly use my Origin account to purchase The Sims games. I will not be judged. It’s how I like to spend my leisure time. Ahem.)
The error you’ve been receiving will probably look something like this:
An error occurred. Please try again later. [ref. #Error: httpRequest ERROR: https://gateway.ea.com/proxy/commerce/carts2/store-cart-purchase-client/offerEntries?storeId=Store-Origin¤cyCode=ZAR&needFullCartInfo=true&needClearCart=true&countryCode=ZA 400 (Bad Request)]
And it’s infuriating. You’ve probably missed EA sales and the launch of your favourite game because of this Origin purchase error. I get it. And we’re not alone! I have found hundreds of posts about this exact Origin purchase error dating as far back as 2016.
There are probably earlier examples but I got sad and stopped looking.
I’ve tried everything to clear this error. It’s a pain and nothing worked. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Until now!
How to Fix the Origin Purchase Error
You’re in luck. It’s easy. And I really hope this works for you as it did for me!
Step 1 – Make sure you have a valid payment method attached to your account. This is probably easier to do via your PC at Origin.com.
Step 2 – Log in to Origin.com using your mobile phone. But make sure to have your mobile data on instead of your wifi!
Step 3 – Purchase your game and wait for it to automatically sync with your desktop app where the game will download. Voilà!
It’s so simple, it hurts. Take that, Origin purchase error! In your face.
Happy gaming all!
