Trying to conceive – The reality of wanting a family

Trying to conceive. Falling pregnant. Having a baby. All of these phrases sound so innocent, but in reality, it’s so much more than that.

Trying to conceive - Uphill Writer

I’m not shy in chatting about how much Daniel and I would love to have a family. We’ve been married for more than 3 years now and more than a year of that has been spent trying to conceive.

Wanting to have a baby as much as Daniel and I do, but each month being disappointed, is something that wears on your mind. It’s the sort of situation that turns the world into a black and white canvas. I’m either pregnant or not pregnant. It’s one of the few situations in life that is a complete. You’re either entirely pregnant or not. No grey area.

Fantastic South African Bloggers and Where to Find Them

South African Bloggers from all around the country have been brought together on Facebook.

South African Bloggers Network

In 2015 I found myself searching for a place to connect with bloggers like myself and after finding nothing that catered for South Africans specifically, I decided to change that. I was searching for a Facebook group that made it easy to share blog posts and ask for help, but seeing as one didn’t exist, I created the South African Bloggers group.

All I wanted to do was connect with fellow South African bloggers, but I never expected it to grow as quickly as it did.

Good morning, hi, hello there.

You know how we all have something we generally don’t like about ourselves? For some it may be their bodies or their hair, for others it may be their inability to do math on the fly. My self pet hate is my ability to ignore myself.

I know I’m not alone here.

I ignore myself and my love for writing words on the pages of this blog far more than I let myself indulge. It’s madness really, isn’t it? If this is important to me, I should make it a priority.

New Experience: First full-body massage

Starting the year in the way I plan to continue it, I visited Sorbet for my first ever full-body massage.

Full-body massage experience

Let me start off by saying hi and welcome to 2017! It took me a little while to get back into the swing of blogging again, but I’m back and let’s get started.

New Year’s Resolutions are not something I tend to sign up for every year. I love that the New Year is a great time to take a look at the last year and perhaps make changes, but I don’t think that New Year’s Resolutions work. Not for me at least. I did however take a step back, look back over 2015 and 2016 and decide that a few changes need to be made in order for 2017 to be the best year I can possibly make it.

A happy ending

Happy ending by UnsplashFirstly, this is not the post I had planned for today, but hey, life happens. I’m just happy that I’m blogging at all!

So have you ever had one of those days that just promises to be a jerk from the moment you open your eyes? Nothing specific happens, but there’s that… tingle in the air. You find yourself looking around, wondering what’s going to happen next. I hate those days. Mostly because they often turn out to be the worst sort of days. What makes it worse is that I’m a fairly positive human being. It’s how I deal with all sorts of situations. Focus on the good. Focus on the highlights. Ignore the bad stuff! (So healthy, I know.)
